The new DS3 phono preamplifier
The DS3 B phono box has a steel chassis covered with screwed aluminum plates. This construction provides a very good stiffness and an excellent isolation against interferences.

Discrete circuit design
The Phono Box DS3 B uses a fully discrete circuit design. A discrete circuit consists of electronic components that are distinct, individual parts. Countless hours of listening tests and years of experience have shown us that even the very best operational amplifiers are not as neutral, natural, dynamic or lively. Standard pho no integrated circuit preamps have a few dozen or hundreds of components, but discrete designs use hundreds or thousands of components in comparison.
Passive EQ After the balanced signals are transmitted, they are added back together and processed by the fully passive and discrete RIAA equalization stage. The split-passive equalization provides better impe dance matching and less deviation from the ideal RIAA curve. For the balanced XLR outputs, a discrete balancing stage produces a balanced signal, so you again benefit from symmetrical signal transmissions. The unbalanced RCA outputs use their own fully discrete output stage.
Cartridge setting options
Two turntables can be connected at the same time & adjusted on the front panel. All input settings are stored.
The large fully balanced design makes amplifications from 40dB to 65dB are possible. You can perfectly match it with a variety of pickups and integrate it into your hifi system by precisely adjusting the volume levels to other sources such as CD players or streaming devices. The load impedance can be continuously adjusted via a potentiometer. You can seamlessly adjust impedance during playback and instantly assess the effects of different load options. This is necessary to find exactly the right load impedance for your cartridge.
External power supply
The Phono Box DS3 B is powered by an external power supply. It is important to keep all parts that can radiate electromagnetic fields out of the range of the amplifier. For this reason, we use an external power supply. Due to legal requirements, this power supply must be a switched-mode power supply with a standby power consumption of 0.1 W. An external power supply with a linear design is even better, because it can deliver much cleaner current. If you want to produce such clean and really high quality power supplies, you have to use a transformer with very low core saturation and preferably with shielding between primary and secondary winding.
